… Tap The Net

Here
are some of my favorite places to go on the web. It's not an exhaustive list. I
bow to the Yahoo in that competition.
However, you'll probably get a pretty good idea of who I am from these sites.
Folk Music Home Page :
Information on artists, venues, concerts, news and much more. If you like folk
music, you'll probably lose track of time at this site.
Digital Tradition Folk Song Database
: Search for the lyrics and chords of your favorite folk tune. Browse the
keyword list for something that catches your eye. More than 5,000 songs and
growing. What a great service these people are doing.
Songwriters Association of Washington : SAW was
established in 1979 as a nonprofit organization for aspiring and professional
songwriters in the Washington, DC area. Read the "SAW Notes"
newsletter, check out upcoming showcase schedule, and learn about entering the
Mid Atlantic Song Contest.
Crosstown Arts : A very nicely
organized site for venues, events, and resources for the Washington DC arts
scene. The business directory is the local artists one stop resource.
GaryJr.com : The name is the address. This
guy really does the web right. News, polls, yummy pics and the best message
board in the free world. If you ever wondered if a real "online
community" could exist, take a stroll through Gary's page.
The Washington Blade : This is the Gay and
Lesbian newspaper of Washington, DC. A great resource regardless of your
geographic orientation. Well organized and updated every week as the paper
issue hits the street. This is what the Internet is meant to be.
The Human Rights Campaign : The Human Rights
Campaign, the largest national LGBT organization, envisions an America where
lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are ensured of their basic equal
rights -- and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the
community. Sounds pretty good to me.
PFLAG : From one family's pain and anger over
a brutal hate crime against their gay son has grown this vibrant national
family-based organization. The acronym PFLAG stands for Parents & Friends
of Lesbians and Gays. If you don't think that this world has any heroes, you
should visit this site.
The Queer Resources Directory : The QRD is
an electronic library with 18285 files of news clippings, political contact
information, newsletters, essays, images, hyperlinks, and everything else
queer. At last a place on the Internet where substance is more important than
style.
Task Force Online : The National Gay &
Lesbian Task Force Home Page contains current events, press releases,
conference listings and lots of links that you will want to frequently
reference.
Partners Network : A national forum for
same sex couples for news and information. Topics include marriage information,
surveys and information on legal rights. You can even post your picture in the
couples gallery.
Pride List : A consolidated listing of
hundreds of Pride events across the country and around the world. Links are
provided to detailed event schedules for many of the listings.
Dilbert Zone: I can't get
going in the morning until I get my reality check from Dilbert. The future
belongs to DNRC. Sign me up Dogbert.
Icon Bazaar: This is a nicely organized
place to shop for nifty icons. Permission is granted for limited use of images
on personal pages so long as the source is acknowledged. Credit where credit is
due.
The Beacon Light: If
you haven't been to Provincetown, Massachusetts, you must go. The Beacon Light
is a charming and conveniently located guest house run by Jessye, the golden
retriever .... oh, she gets some help from Stephen and Trevor.
I
gratefully acknowledge the following sites for adding a link to my page from
theirs.
